Welcome to our new webpage. Hopefully, this will be an exciting portal that will give you an insight into what life is like in Year 6 Elder. Take a look inside and see some of the exciting and amazing things we are doing in our class this year. We look forward to sharing with you our exciting learning adventures and letting you have a peek at our amazing work and the fun that we are having in class! Keep checking back to see more wonderful things as the year progresses and check out our twitter posts below to see what we have been up to daily!
Homework will be posted on our Class Dojo every Friday and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday at the latest. If you are having any problems completing homework please speak to one of the Year 6 team.
PE will be every Tuesday afternoon. However please have a full PE kit (black shorts/joggers, white round neck t-shirt) including trainers in school everyday to allow for timetable changes and extra activities. For outdoor PE joggers or leggings can be worn.
The children are given the time to read in class everyday and are able to select from a wide range of books from the class library or bring a book from home. In addition to this, it is vital that they continue to read at home. Reading at home is one of the most important things you can do to support your child with their learning. We are happy for the children to read a range of genres including fiction, non fiction, or newspapers.
By Year 6, the children should know all their times tables and related division facts. Please encourage your child to keep learning and practising these to help all areas of their maths. TT Rock Stars is an excellent online platform that the children enjoy using to practise their times tables. Please encourage your child to use this at home is possible. This website is a great way to make learning more fun!
