Teaching

Whole School Approach to Literacy & Vocabulary Acquisition:

 

Overview: Identify delayed language skills at the earliest opportunity to enable early intervention using evidence- based programmes.

Outcome: Pupils identified for small group speech and language interventions or external referral to SALT.

 

Whole school approach to phonics and reading:

Overview: Talk for Reading whole school approach to teaching reading consistent teaching using a robust systematic synthetic phonics programme.

Outcome:High quality teaching of phonics and reading' gives children a core foundation to progress through school and develop the habit of reading for pleasure and information.

 

Whole School Oracy & language Development:

Overview:  Improve oral language skills through an explicit, coherent and consistent focus on oracy, supporting learning through debating, discussions and deliberating philosophical questions

Outcome:To enable and empower children to become confident, articulate and engaging speakers.

 

 

 

Targeted Academic Support

Targeted Small Group Interventions and Pre/Post Teach sessions

 

Overview: Interventions & Pre/Post teach sessions support the teaching of basic skills, language and reading identified using robust approaches and gaps are addressed using credible research based interventions (Early Talk Boost, NELI, X-Code, Switch -On, Lexia, Mastery Maths)

Outcome: Diminish the gap on attainment between PP children and Non- Pupil Premium.

 

 

 

 

Wider Strategies

Pastoral Support for Individuals & Families

Overview: We welcome a high proportion of pupils from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds

Outcome: A strongly integrated PHSE curriculum and Pastoral team develops ALL children SEMH. Families are also supported with SEMH & financial needs. I

Develop the whole child

Overview: Termly opps to experience learning outside of the classroom

Outcomes: Develop self-esteem, responsibility, personal & social skills, equipping pupils with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.
